PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Colin Borde has quit as manager of the Trinidad and Tobago team.
While citing personal reasons for his decision, the business executive revealed that he had applied for the post of West Indies manager and was hoping to land the position, currently held by West Indies Cricket Board director Joel Garner.
CMC Sports understands Borde is the front runner for the post and has been already short-listed along with two others.
“I have met with the president of the TTCB (Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board), Azim Bassarath and I have indicated to him that I wish to move on to other things at this point in time,” said Borde.
“I have applied for the post of West Indies manager and I am hopeful that things work out. If not I have a business to run at this point in time and after consultation with my family, I thought it best to demit the position of manager of the T&T team.”
Borde oversaw T&T’s capture of two regional 50 overs titles, winning the Stanford Twenty20, along with their runners-up spots in the WICB Challenge Trophy in 2008 and in the Champions League tournament in India last year.
He has been a TTCB committee member for the last six years, is the former chairman of the National Cricket League and also sits on the WICB Marketing Committee.
Borde holds a West Indies accredited Level One Coaching Certificate.
