Tucber Park won the toss and took first strike, and led by half centuries from Joemal LaFleur and Jamally Odle the team got off to a winning start. However, they lost Kelvin Leitch’s (2) early wicket when he was bowled by Shemaine Campbell with the score at three.
LaFleur and Rawle Carter then joined forces and put on 49 before Mibicuri’s Campbell struck again, clean-bowling Carter for 16. Odle then joined La Fleur and together they added 85 runs off 14 overs after which LaFleur fell for 68 including seven fours.
Another wicket fell at 140-4 before Odle and Andre Koulen added another 45 runs for the fifth wicket. Odle and Koulen eventually lost their wickets, Odle for 57 which included six fours and Koulen for 40. Tucber Park was subsequently dismissed for 245 in 49 overs.
Mibicuri got off to a shaky start and needed 246 for victory. Bowling started with Satesh Liladhar who took 4-20 from eight overs, Kemraj Paltu 2-31 from seven overs and Campbell 2-35 from 10 overs. Paltu was sent back to the pavilion for nine followed by Kumar Sirkissoon for 13 with the score at 25-2.
Campbell, who batted at number four, did so stubbornly but with no support from his team-mates, Mibicuri slipped to 76-6 in the 27th over but reached 95-6 before the introduction of medium pacer Leitch, into Tucber Park’s bowling attack. Mibicuri were then swiftly bundled out, adding a mere two more runs to the total as Leitch picked up the last four wickets in two overs.
