Chinese arrival:

2025 marks the 172nd anniversary of the arrival of Chinese in Guyana. On January 11th, the first drama based on the story of Chinese arrival in Guyana was staged at the National Cultural Centre. A GEMS Theatre Productions, ‘From Whence We Came – The Chinese Experience’ is based on research by Scott Ting-A-Kee and scripted for stage by playwright, novelist and artist, Harold Bascom. Two men suspected of planning crime detained by East Coast residents

The police say they are  investigating an incident on the East Coast of Demerara where two armed men said to be in the process of committing a felony were pursued and captured yesterday by residents, while two others  fled on motorcycles.
