Scrabble player James Krawkowsky produced another flawless display to win the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) Open scrabble competition at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Woolford Avenue recently.
Krawkowsky ended with a positive spread of 1035, ahead of Moen Gafoor who was second with five wins and a positive spread of 580.
Gafoor’s singular loss was to Krakowsky in the third round where he lost 88 points after collecting 291 points from wins against Colin Chichester (166) and Maurice Munroe (125).
Gafoor rebounded in the fourth round with another win against Wayne Cave (42) and ended the tournament by defeating Grace Hercules (217).
Krakowsky’s triumph started with a win against Cave for 108 points. He added another 164 points in his match against Kevin Williams while in the fourth round against Hercules, Krakowsky collected 255 points. His final two matches were against Chichester (154) and Anand Mohabir (266).
Cave, with three wins and a positive spread of 89 points ended in third place.
