Uruguay defeated Guyana by 6-0 in their battle of the bottom four finishers when action in the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) Cup continued yesterday in Mendoza, Argentina.
Lucia Lamberti opened the scoring in the second minute for Uruguay through a field goal. A penalty corner conversion in the 23rd by Soledad Villar doubled Uruguay’s lead.
They further strengthened their position as Kaisuami Orso Dall added her name to the scorer’s sheet three minutes before half time through a field goal.
Resuming in the second period, Mercedes Coates made the score line 4-0 as she netted in the 47th minute. Matilde Kliche added to the score line as she found the back of the net through a penalty corner strike in the 55th minute.
The result would be settled six minutes later as Lamberti completed her double through a penalty corner strike. Guyana will now face Trinidad and Tobago in the battle of the bottom two sides tomorrow.
