Acting Crime Chief Hugh Jessemy says police are still investigating the Friday night shooting at Enmore, East Coast Demerara that left three persons injured.
On Friday night, Tishana Persaud, Pooran Etwaroo and Ron Robinson were injured in drive-by shooting while they were at “Bless Up” car wash located at Hope West, Enmore, ECD.
Etwaroo is reported to have been discharged from the hospital.
According to Persaud who remains a patient at the hospital, they were at the wash bay waiting for the car which Robinson drove that night to be washed. She explained a police van passed and moments after a car rolled up “dropped the window behind the driver and started to shoot up.”
Persaud added that she was sitting in a chair on the corner of the road when she was hit by a bullet to her abdomen. Robinson who she said is her `child father’, is expected to undergo surgery today. He was shot in both hands. Stabroek News understands his left hand is broken as a result.
Persaud is expected to undergo surgery today to have the bullet removed. The mother of four also suffered damage to a kidney.
Persaud said when the police vehicle passed it did not raised any alarm since it drove as if they were patrolling. However she questioned why the vehicle did not return or respond to the explosive sound.
