Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West/East Bank Demerara leg
Defending champion Ballerz Empire will oppose Cayenne Massive, while three-time winner Showstoppers will battle Jetty Gunners in the semifinal round of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West/East Bank Demerara leg following quarterfinal wins on Saturday night.
Witnessed by a mammoth crowd at the Pouderoyen Tarmac, the youthful Ballerz Empire outfit bested Epic Touch Family via a 2-0 score-line. Solomon Austin bagged a brace in the second and 15th minutes to settle the outcome.
They will now oppose Cayenne Massive, who dismantled Family 5-0. O’Neil Sharp led the rout with a hat-trick, which comprised a 14th strike and a ‘Guinness Goal’ (GG) [a goal scored in the final three minutes counts as two] conversion in the 39th minute.
Contributing goals in the 18th and 36th minutes were siblings Jermaine and Jamiel Harry, respectively. Meanwhile, powerhouse Showstoppers defeated the Westside Ballers 2-0. Dexroy Adams recorded a GG in the 39th minute to secure the win.
Their impending foe, Jetty Gunners, sealed their berth to the final four segment following a 2-0 defeat of the Pouderoyen Brothers. Daniel Wilson amassed a first-half double in the 11th and 16th minutes.
The semifinals will occur on July 19th at the same venue. In excess of one million dollars in prizes are up for grabs in the event.
