Sloganeering

Dear Editor,

How is the ‘One Guyana’ slogan emblazoned on passports (News Source Mar 12) causing a furore, similar to the flying of a party flag over the Court of Appeal, a neutral state agency? Or the painting of government buildings in certain colours associated with a party which once held power?  One is subtle while the other was loud, brash and brazen.  The slogan seeks unity and togetherness while the perceived intent of the other sent a mixed message. How can the slogan ever be so compared?

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
