A mesmerizing spell of left-arm spin bowling from Trinidad and West Indies Under-19 player Derone Davis of 7-25 on the final afternoon propelled Trinidad to an impressive 73 run victory over hosts Guyana, at the Everest Cricket Club ground, yesterday.

During the 75-year Test history at the famous GCC Ground, Bourda from 1930-2005, it was common trend to see many of the 31 Test matches at the venue interrupted by heavenly downpours.

Guyana’s Under-19 cricket team completed a convincing innings and 27-run win over the Leeward Islands in  their opening round clash of the 2011 West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) three-day competition at the Providence National Stadium yesterday.

Led by a 4-wicket haul by Essequibo all-rounder Anthony Adams and an unbeaten 72 by star batsman Chanderpaul Hemraj, Guyana closed the first day of their opening 2011 West Indies Cricket Board Under-19 tournament match with a first innings advantage of 44 runs over the Leeward Islands.
