High turnout seen as disciplined services vote

First Bauxite commissions US$100M Bonasika mine

Guyana Industrial Minerals (GINMIN), a subsidiary of United States-based First Bauxite (FBX), yesterday commissioned its mine and processing plant at Bonasika, Demerara River, in Region Three, and pledged that the US$100 million investment would be a world-class operation.

US$3.4M Bartica power plant commissioned

A US$3.4 million ($714 million) power plant, capable of generating 3.3 megawatts (MW) of electricity was commissioned at Bartica yesterday with officials expressing optimism that it would banish the town’s power woes as the generating capacity is above its peak requirements.
