A Guyanese-born woman was last month sworn in as a judge in the Queens Supreme Court in New York and will be presiding over criminal matters.

Dr. Shane Jagan has graduated with a bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery in Mumbai, India.

Ronald Cumberbatch was awarded a MSC in Environmental Management in December, 2011 from the Queens University, Northern Ireland.

The Jamaica Information Service says Principal of the Convent of Mercy Academy (Alpha Academy), Guyanese-born Mackran Singh, is to receive the National Honour of Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer (OD) on National Heroes Day, October 17, for his contribution to education in Jamaica.
