Crabwood Creek small farmers to receive help to set up shade houses

100 small farmers from Crabwood Creek will be receiving help through the Ministry of Agriculture to set up  a shade house each  on their land to plant peppers to be able to supply an agro processing plant in Black Bush Polder – a new pilot strategy which is being embarked on by the government to assist small farmers in that area.

Canal #1 man arrested over house lot fraud

An unemployed 30-year-old man of Mes Delices, Canal #1, West Bank Demerara, was arrested on Monday May 20, 2024 at the Ministry of Housing (Brickdam) for allegedly trying to defraud another man of $250,000 as payment for a plot of land, the police said in a release yesterday.

On Monday 20th May 2024, Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers whilst conducting a follow-up operation in the Grant Woodland, Lower Pomeroon River area, conducted a search of Gavin Adams’ residence, which led to the discovery of five brick-like parcels containing a whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Memorial for victims of Mahdia dorm fire

Prime Minister  Mark Phillips; Ministers of Labour Joseph Hamilton; Tourism, Industry and Commerce Oneidge Walrond; and Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues journeyed to Micobie today for a memorial service and wreath laying ceremony for the 12 children from the village who died in a tragic dormitory fire at Mahdia a year ago, a release from the Department of Public Information (DPI) said.
