NY Mayor lauds contribution of Guyanese

Amid the sounds of tassa drumming and jubilation, the Little Guyana Avenue sign was unveiled on Saturday, with Mayor Bill de Blasio lauding the Guyanese community for “contributing to the leadership in New York City in a very big way.”

City Mayor rejects claim of deliberate flooding

City Mayor Ubraj Narine yesterday dismissed as “nonsensical” and “utter foolish reasoning” allegations leveled against City Hall that it was responsible for flooding in  Georgetown yesterday since the APNU+AFC-dominated council instructed operators to not open the kokers.

Due to heavy rainfall, the overflowing of the Canje Creek and poor drainage several Region Six villages remained flooded yesterday afternoon leaving many with huge losses and bitter at the various neighborhood democratic councils (NDCs).

Ali promises flood-hit residents supplies will be provided

During a series of on the ground engagements on Saturday, President Irfaan Ali sought to reassure flood-affect residents in several communities that government is working with all stakeholders, including the Civil Defence Commission (CDC), to ensure that their needs are provided for.
