CDC sets up two shelters in flood-hit Region Two

With at least ten persons to be evacuated in Region Two, the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) yesterday said that two temporary shelters have been established in two of the most affected areas within the Region.

CANU finds 300 lbs marijuana at Unity

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) between Tuesday and yesterday, following a counter narcotics operation carried out along the Unity foreshore, East Coast Demerara, discovered eighteen bags of marijuana amounting to 300 lbs and estimated to be valued at $18 million dollars.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips yesterday told flood-affected residents of Malali and Muritaro in Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice that once the water recedes from the land, the Government will help all communities across the country to restart economic activities in an effort to bounce back from the crisis.
