Pandemic supplies donated by Canada, PAHO

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday received a donation of essential items to fight against the novel coronavirus which stemmed from a collaboration between the Government of Canada and the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO).

Harbour bridge bus and taxi operators to be relocated

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill today met with minibus and taxi operators who ply their trade at the Demerara Harbour Bridge (DHB) on the tarmac at Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara and advised  that they would have to be relocated to minimize traffic congestion and to allow emergency vehicles easier access to the structure.

Power system hit by major interruptions

At approximately 10:34 am yesterday, the Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL) Kingston Power Plant experienced a loss of approximately 27 Megawatts (MWs) of generation, which trigged a cascading effect at the other GPL power plants resulting in a shutdown of the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System (DBIS).

UG team, Nandlall discuss expanded admissions to Hugh Wooding law school

Representatives of the University of Guyana (UG) yesterday met with Attorney General Anil Nandlall to discuss the terms of a new agreement with officials of the University of the West Indies and the Council of Legal Education for the continued automatic admissions of graduates of the UG Law Programme into the Hugh Wooding Law School.
