Minibus driver chases on-duty traffic cop with cutlass

A Route 48 minibus driver has been arrested by police after he attempted to attack an on-duty traffic rank with a cutlass yesterday afternoon on Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown.

Bus driver acquitted of rape of girl

A jury yesterday afternoon unanimously acquitted Edgar Holder of the 2018 rape of a 14-year-old girl, who, according to the case for the prosecution had boarded his minibus to travel home after leaving lessons.

Bond, Heath-London and others for summary trial over Peters Hall land deals

The criminal proceedings against PNCR member James Bond and former acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) Colvin Heath-London, who are accused of conspiring to defraud the state through the unsanctioned disposal of land at Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara, will be disposed of via a summary trial.

Bids received for reconstruction of police stations

Bids were recently submitted to the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board for infrastructure works in a number of areas including Great Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara and Cummings Lodge, Vigilance and Bladen Hall on the East Coast of Demerara.

Flood relief for Lower Pomeroon farmers

One hundred farmers in the Lower Pomeroon, Region Two, whose farms were inundated earlier this year will soon benefit from flood relief efforts by the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) and the Pomeroon/Supenaam Regional Democratic Council.

Third relief shipment for St Vincent

A third shipment of approximately 250 tonnes of emergency relief items is scheduled to depart for St Vincent and the Grenadines today to aid the island in its recovery from the eruption of the La Soufrière volcano.
