CCJ dismisses Gaskin appeal over separate environment permits for Exxon partners

– stresses importance of transparency In a unanimous ruling, the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on Thursday dismissed an appeal filed by political commentator and activist Ramon Gaskin, who for years had contended that separate environmental permits ought to have been granted to Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd (Hess) and China National Offshore Oil Cooperation Guyana (CNOOC) for their involvement in oil production here.

Canadian NGO showcases CA$2.9M suicide prevention project

The fight to curb the scourge of suicides in Guyana was in focus when on Wednesday, the International Development & Relief Foundation (IDRF)  showcased its CA$2.9 million “Safeguarding the Human Dignity and Rights of Populations at Risk for Ill-Mental Health in Vulnerable Com-munities across Guyana” (SPAR) project, a Canadian High Commission release stated yesterday.
