Over five years…Courtney Benn Contracting and subsidiary secured 92% of MARAD spares and rehab contracts

-no Bill of Quantities presented A special internal audit into the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) has revealed that between 2015 and 2020 Courtney Benn Contracting Services (CBCS) and its subsidiary company, Brenco Shipping were awarded 92% of the contract values for procurement of spares and rehabilitation and maintenance of vessels but major tasks remained incomplete and other irregularities were detected.

Mahipaul and others in court bid to ensure independence of constitutional agencies

Opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Ganesh Mahipaul and a number of other persons have filed an application against the Attorney General (AG), the Minister of Finance, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and other constitutional agencies; seeking a declaration from the court that the agencies be allowed to function independently, impartially and free of the exercise of any control by the Executive or any other entity. 

Ninety persons benefited from public procurement training

A total of ninety persons, representing fifty-seven procuring entities, participated in three virtual training workshops on the topic of procurement planning organized by the Public Procurement Commission (PPC), the regulatory body for public procurement in Guyana.

Rosemary Lane man shot dead at Lodge party

The police say they are investigating the murder of Dale Christopher aka Sun Skull MMR,  27,  of Lot 1A Rosemary Lane, Cummingsburg, which occurred around 6 am today at Hill Street Lodge, Georgetown allegedly by a 40-year-old unemployed male of Freeman Street, East La Penitence.
