Local companies making coveralls for Singapore workers building Guyana oil platform

Local companies, Denmor Garments Manufacturers Inc and Caribbean Clothing Company Ltd have secured contracts to manufacture  two thousand coveralls for workers in Singapore who are constructing what will be the third oil production platform here.

Foreign Minister calls in Venezuelan Representative over decree

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd today met with Moses Chavez, Chargé d’ Affaires, Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to register the strong objection of the Government of Guyana over the issuing of a decree by Caracas purporting to assert sovereignty over the maritime area adjacent to Guyana’s Essequibo coast.

Global Witness withdraws report on Exxon deal

Citing the need to step up the fight against climate change, anti-corruption group Global Witness today withdrew an explosive report it had issued on Guyana last year which said that ExxonMobil’s exploitative deal had cost the country as much as US$55b.

The Ministry of Public Works will today be discussing penalties against contractor BK Inter-national after it was yesterday discovered that only 15% of sea defence work at Plantation Andrews in Region Two has been completed even though 70% of the  $124M contract was paid out.
