Gov’t commissions Region One telemedicine centre

As part of its efforts to expand healthcare accessibility in the hinterland of Guyana, the government has commissioned a telemedicine unit in the village of Waramuri, located in the Moruca sub-district, Region One.

GOAL scholarships tenable at 20 institutions

A total of 7,783 applicants from across the 10 Administrative Regions have been selected to be a part of the  Guyana Academy of Online Learning (GOAL) scholarship programme for the 2024 batch and they will be attending 20 different institutions These institutions are in Guyana, Trinidad, the Dominican Republic (DR), the United Arab Emirates, Germany, India, Costa Rica, Malawi, Zambia, Spain, and the United Kingdom (UK).

The government and local regulatory agencies remained tightlipped yesterday on  claims by the United States that some  10,000 kilogrammes of gold was smuggled out of this country between 2019-2023.

Construction of 74 houses begins at Silica City

Construction has commenced on the much-heralded Silica City located along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway and according to a release yesterday from the Department of Public Information (DPI), 74 of the 110 contracted young professional houses are in the foundational stage.

Six East Coast Demerara families now ‘Core Home’ owners

A Ministry of Housing and Water release yesterday stated that six families from the communities of Haslington, Non Pariel, Lusignan, Good Hope and Cummings Lodge, received the keys to their new ‘Core Homes’ and Certificates of Inspection under the Adequate Housing and Urban Accessibility Programme (AHUAP).

On Tuesday, Police from Regional Division 4C, acting on information received, went to an area in the Victoria Backlands, East Coast Demerara, about three miles from the Victoria access road, where they saw two plots of land measuring about two acres being prepared by a 33-year-old resident of the village.
