No traffic disruption after two trawlers hit bridge

The Management of the Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation yesterday advised commuters that there was a minor accident involving two trawlers drifting and colliding with Spans 26 and 27, which did not result in any major structural damage to the Demerara Harbour Bridge.

Police Force training centres get international accreditation 

The United States Embassy in Georgetown, in collaboration with the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) and Guyana Police Force (GPF), have announced the successful accreditation of three GPF training centres, located in Suddie, Essequibo; Adventure, Berbice; and Georgetown, a release from the US Embassy stated yesterday.

Digicel activates subsea fibre cable, Deep Blue One

The mobile phone network and home entertainment provider, Digicel Group, has announced the activation of its subsea fibre cable, Deep Blue One, which is expected to “supercharge” connectivity across the Caribbean and South America, particularly benefiting Guyana, French Guiana, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago.

-calls for reparations The regional human rights body, IACHR has found that the State of Guyana is responsible for the violations of the rights of the Akawaios of Isseneru pertaining to collective territorial property, right to equality under the law and rights to health, food and water among other areas and has called for reparations.
