APNU+AFC petition maintains allegations of irregularities

The Opposition APNU+AFC yesterday filed its much-talked-about elections petition challenging the results of the March 2nd General and Regional elections which saw the PPP/C winning the seat of government.

Mingo, two others on elections fraud charges

By Readawne Henery Clairmont Mingo, GECOM’s District Four Returning Officer and two other elections workers  were yesterday granted bail at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on indictable charges of fraud surrounding the controversial March 2nd general elections.

West Coast Berbice protests end after Mingo returns home

Hours of protests, blockades and disruption along sections of the West Coast Berbice (WCB) and Mahaicony roads concluded yesterday after District Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo returned home after facing several charges in Georgetown stemming from the March 2nd general elections.

Granger slams police treatment of Mingo

Former President David Granger yesterday accused the current government of persecuting public servants and described as inhumane the decision by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to keep embattled Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo in custody for 144 hours.

Prison officer dies in accident on Homestretch Avenue

The Police say they are investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 08:00hrs today on Homestretch Avenue in the vicinity of the CANU Headquarters, involving motor car PYY 7942 driven by a 27-year-old Prison Officer, and motor X-Trail PWW 4425 driven by a 22-year-old male of Eccles, East Bank Demerara resulting in the death of Prince Cox, 38, a Chief Prison Officer of Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara.

Traffic in Region Five still being blocked by protesters 

Traffic is presently at a standstill in Region Five as protesters have remained on the main access road starting fires and blocking the road with tree branches and pieces of wood in their call for District Four Returning Officer, Clairmont Mingo, to be released from police custody.
