Market vendors battling drop in business from COVID-19

Vendors in the Bourda and Stabroek markets have been vocal about the hardships they continue to face as sales decrease due to the implementation of COVID-19 measures by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

LINMINE General Manager incensed at dumping of garbage in town

Linden Mining Enterprise (LINMINE) General Manager Emmet Alves is incensed at the indiscriminate dumping of garbage in key locations in Linden which he blames for stymieing repair works to key bridges in the bauxite-mining community.  

COVID-19 emergency measures extended until June 17th

The government has announced a two-week extension of the emergency measures that were put initially put in place in early April to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), while also saying that Guyanese returning from overseas would be allowed to quarantine themselves at home for a mandatory seven days. 

Driver’s examination forgery charges against police trio dismissed

Almost two years after three members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) were slapped with a total of 50 fraud charges in connection with the forgery of driver’s licences, the charges were dismissed by Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus after the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence against them.
