Use of plasma to fight COVID-19 not yet approved by WHO

As the use of the drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine as treatment for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has not been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), local health authorities are in talks on using different methods in treating patients with the virus including the use of plasma.

Court orders curfew offender to hold up sign for hour

A man who breached the curfew which is in place to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was yesterday sentenced to one hour of standing and displaying a curfew notice.

COVID-19 cases rise to 78

De facto Minister of Public Health Volda Lawrence this afternoon said that the number of persons positive for COVID-19 has risen to 78 from yesterday’s 75.

Coast Guard captain in fatal river crash released on station bail

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guard Captain who was in police custody following a crash on the Pomeroon River that claimed the life of Ryan Khayum, a farmer, on Tuesday last, has been released on station bail, Regional Commander of Region 2, W/Superintendent Crystal Robinson, informed Stabroek News.
