Local businessman to develop Liliendaal land formerly owned by Rusal

Local businessman Lennox Cush is seeking to develop the controversial Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara land that was once sold to Russian oligarch Oleg Derispaska’s company Rusal for $150 million and for which Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh and former  National Industrial and Commercial and Investments Limited (NICIL) head Winston Brassington were charged.

Mill operator granted $250,000 bail on gun charge

A 31-year-old mill operator of Lot 4642 Westminster, West Bank Demerara who was arrested on May 12th over the unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition without license was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 when he appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.

Charity man jailed for drug possession

Vaughndel Tobin, a 25-year-old of Charity  Back Street, Essequibo Coast was sentenced to one year in prison last week, after he pleaded guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Gov’t to train 3,000 in welding

-650 already registered for first phase There is a growing need for welders in the oil & gas sector and in response, government is stepping up training efforts with the aim of targeting 3,000 Guyanese, through a new programme by the School of the Nations in collaboration with the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL).
