Private sector meets diplomats on elections matters

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) yesterday met with representatives of countries which will be observing the March 2 elections and was told that they will be coordinating their work to ensure maximum coverage of the country.

Laid off bauxite workers block Berbice River

Workers laid off by the Russian-owned Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc (BCGI) yesterday blocked the Berbice River in protest and their union, the Guyana Bauxite and General Workers Union (GB&GWU) has declared the actions of BCGI as a “planned attack on our democracy by the Russian management aimed at creating political turbulence.”

In wake of leak, Bosai to complete work on tailings pond today

The Linden-based Bosai Minerals Group (Guyana) has promised to complete repair works on its tailings pond today and, will be hoping that the standard of work is good enough to persuade the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to grant the company permission to recommence the discharge of water into the pond.
