13 parties submit lists for polls

A total of 13 parties yesterday submitted candidates’ lists to contest the upcoming March 2nd general and regional elections, with the incumbent A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) coalition, the opposition People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), and the United Republican Party (URP) being the only ones seeking to run in all 10 regions.

Granger confident APNU+AFC has ‘winning’ list

Buoyed by a multitude of screaming supporters, President David Granger yesterday declared that the governing APNU+AFC had the “winning” slate for the upcoming March 2nd polls.

Vieira, Indar, Datadin turn out for PPP/C

Former PNCR parliamentarian Anthony Vieira, businessman Deodat Indar and attorney Sanjeev Datadin are among the new additions on the People’s Progressive Party (PPP/C) lists of candidates for the March 2nd general elections.

Bosai fined again after tailings pond spill

Bauxite miner Bosai will be fined approximately $1 million for a spill from the company’s tailings pond that occurred on Thursday morning, affecting the environment and residents in the Linden community of Noitgedacht, and has also been ordered to halt the discharge of waste into the pond.

Senior cop instructed release of driver in Nigg fatal accident

A senior police officer in Region Six has been identified as the person who gave instructions to release the driver who struck a pensioner on the pedestrian crossing along the Nigg Public Road on station bail before the 72 hours within which he could be held without charge had elapsed.

Two weeks after bauxite miner, Bosai was fined $1 million for waste water discharges from its tailings pond into the Kara Kara Creek, an apparent  breach in the dyke surrounding the pond has led to flooding in the Linden community of Noitgedacht.
