Joint Operation rescues 44 female foreigners at Red Dragon Night Club

The Ministry of Home Affairs today said that the Guyana Police Force – CID – Trafficking in Persons Unit, in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security – C-TIP Unit and the Ministry of Home Affairs, conducted a cordon and search operation at Red Dragon Night Club, situated on Robb Street, Georgetown, on Monday, March 4th, 2024, at approximately 2:30 am, based on received intelligence.

The murder charge against former Police Corporal, Derwin Eastman, has been discontinued by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed yesterday Eastman was remanded to prison in 2017 for the murder of city businessman, Godfrey Scipio, popularly known as ‘Saga’ who was shot during a robbery on October 12, 2017.

Farmer in case of burnt remains of teen placed on $1m bail

Godfrey Carrington, a 59-year-old farmer of Lot 71 Unity Street, La Grange, West Bank Demerara, who was held for questioning in relation to the discovery of the charred remains of Shaquille Jones known as “Botha” was last month placed on $1 million bail with the condition that he reports to the police periodically.

Farmers being questioned over WCB labourer murder 

Police sources yesterday confirmed that several persons including cattle and rice farmers in Region Five are being questioned in relation to the murder of a West Coast Berbice labourer whose body was discovered with multiple chop wounds in the backlands.
