Guyana to fortify ties with Chile in mining, petroleum sectors

President David Granger last evening, attended the 209th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Chile at the Marriott Hotel and stronger ties with Santiago’s mining and petroleum sectors are on the agenda.

CDC gets donation from Dharmic Sabha for Bahamas relief

The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) yesterday received a cheque valued $500,000 from the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS) to support the procurement of much-needed relief supplies for the hurricane-ravaged island chain of The Bahamas.

STEM Guyana receives $1M for First Global Robotic challenge

Minister within the Ministry of Communities, Annette Ferguson yesterday handed over a cheque of $1M to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Guyana team, which will be representing the country at this year’s ‘First Global Robotic’ competition in Dubai.

Prosecution closes case in Lodge murder inquiry

The prosecution yesterday closed its case against Matthew Parks in the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the charge that he murdered Roger Allen, the Freeman Street youth who was stabbed during a fight at D’Urban and Chapel streets, Lodge last year.

MACORP, ministry in MoU for online training of technicians

Minister of Public Telecommuni-cations Catherine Hughes and Chief Executive Officer of the Machinery Corporation (MA-CORP) Guillermo Escarraga yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for free online training for persons interested in being certified  for the repair and maintenance of heavy machinery.
