Burnt brothers out of danger

The two brothers who were severely burnt during an incident at their Corentyne, Berbice home less than a month ago are said to be out of danger and are recovering well in the United States, where they are currently receiving treatment.

UK Deputy High Commissioner visits Minister of State

Minister of State, Dawn Hastings-Williams yesterday afternoon received a courtesy call from United Kingdom Deputy High Commissioner to Guyana, Ray Davidson to discuss matters of mutual interest, including climate change and conservation, according to a release from the Ministry of the Presidency.

Trial date set for UG bomb threat accused

The trial of Sheneza Jafarally, the University of Guyana (UG) student who is accused of making a bomb threat earlier this year that disrupted classes and operations at the Turkeyen Campus, is set to begin on October 8th.

The report, ‘Man jailed for stabbing wife, assaulting daughter,’ published in the September 4th edition of the Stabroek News, erroneously identified one of the victims as the wife of convict Peter Thompson.

Jagdeo encouraged after GECOM meeting

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo said that a March elections date was totally out of the question, while another member of his delegation has claimed that GECOM Chair Justice (ret’d) Claudette Singh has committed to “working towards a timeline of having elections long before the end of the year.”
