GECOM Chair for separate meetings today with commissioners

Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), retired Justice Claudette Singh, spent her first day yesterday being briefed on the functioning of the agency by its senior managers and has scheduled meetings with the two sides of the Commission today.

GGMC reclaims over 40 acres of former mining lands

The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) has in the past three years ensured the reclamation of over 40 acres of land previously used for mining and has spent approximately $100 million on the process, according to Commission-er Newell Dennison.

GAWU denies delinquency in submission of tax returns

The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) has refuted an item appearing in the Kaieteur News on July 28, which stated that the union had been delinquent in its submission of annual tax returns and filing of annual returns with the Registrar .

Ten students begin ICT internship with MoPT’s partners

Ten students from junior secondary schools in Georgetown began a five-week paid internship on Monday July 22, with several private sector Information and Communications Technology (ICT) enterprises in Georgetown   According to a Ministry of Public Telecommunications (MoPT) release, the internship is a direct spin-off of a “Travelling Symposium” that the Ministry conducted last March with an outreach to the St Mary’s, Lodge, Carmel, Queens-town and Charlestown Secondary Schools.
