Jagdeo alleges prime lands giveaway to gov’t officials, supporters

While Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday claimed the APNU+AFC government has been in a “mad rush” to allocate prime state lands to key officials and alleged supporters since the December 21st no-confidence vote, Commissioner of the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GL&SC) Trevor Benn has labelled his statements as misinformation.

Wrongfully dismissed cop Simon McBean reinstated

GRA to recommend renegotiation of Guyana’s tax treaties

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is currently preparing recommendations for the Ministry of Finance to have certain aspects of signed tax agreements with other territories renegotiated and updated, according to Commissioner-General Godfrey Statia, who says this country ought to be cautious when entering tax agreements.

UNICEF donates $4M in equipment to fight child abuse

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) yesterday made a donation of $4 million worth of televisions, computers and forensic kits to the Ministries of Social Protection and Public Health, which will go toward the establishment of Child Advocacy Centres to curb child abuse.

Italian envoy visits Bartica to assess energy project
