Optique Vision Care opens MovieTowne branch

Optique Vision Care on Thursday evening opened its fifth branch, located in the MovieTowne Mall at Turkeyen, which boasts a fully computerised office that will be operated with the use of an electronic health records system.

Health Ministry commissions $161M Diamond drug bond extension

Three years after government faced a scandal over the rental of a Sussex Street drug bond from a party member for millions of dollars, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) yesterday commissioned a 428.5 square metre bond extension at its Diamond, East Bank Demerara facility, costing some $161 million.

GNBA Chairman says no ulterior motive in denial of radio licence to Stabroek News’ publisher

Board Chairman Leslie Sobers yesterday maintained that the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA) did not willfully deny Guyana Publications Incorporated (GPI), the publisher of the Stabroek News and Sunday Stabroek, a radio licence, while noting that the company only became fully compliant in October last year, by which time all the primary zone frequencies were already allocated.

Guyana maintains US Tier 1 ranking for efforts to combat human trafficking

Guyana has for the third consecutive year maintained its Tier 1 ranking in the latest United States State Department report on Trafficking in Persons (TIP), which recognises its sustained efforts while also noting shortcomings in protection and shelter outside the capital and the lack of a standard operating procedure for protecting foreign victims.
