FITUG calls for unconditional acceptance of CCJ edicts

The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FITUG) has urged the unconditional acceptance of the rulings of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) regarding the validity of the December 21 no-confidence motion against the government and the appointment of the elections commission chairman and has urged leaders to find a consensual way forward.

ANUG calls for shared governance before next polls

Political party, A New and United Guyana (ANUG) yesterday urged that a shared governance arrangement be entered into by the two main political forces until the next elections and that no contracts be awarded or policy decisions made during that time.

Liquid Love Bar owner gets 10 years for human trafficking

Savita Persaud, the owner of the Liquid Love Bar located on Station Street, Kitty, who was tried for several offences including trafficking two Venezuelan women for sex, was yesterday sentenced to a total of 10 years for the crime and ordered to pay restitution to the victims.

Prison warden remanded over ganja at jail

A prison warden who was allegedly found with over 100 grammes of cannabis during a security search at the Camp Street Prison, was yesterday remanded after he was charged with the offence at a city court.
