GTU says gov’t `heartless’

President of the GTU, Mark Lyte on Friday evening lashed out at the government calling it “heartless” as according to him the union is ready to negotiate terms for teachers to return to the class room with discussions on salary increases being prioritised.

Yesterday, Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Brigadier  Omar Khan decorated the recently promoted Senior Officers with their new badges of rank at a ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess, Base Camp Ayanganna.

The High Commission of India and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Georgetown, Guyana, on Thursday organised a Shraddhanjali to pay tribute to legendary Guyanese singer  Mohan Nandu.

IDB Group, Guyana sign six key agreements

(IDB) GEORGETOWN, Guyana – The Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) today signed six new agreements with Guyana, including two operations with the government of Guyana that focus on improving the country’s education sector by enhancing education quality and infrastructure and an amendment to a current operation to strengthen Guyana’s energy matrix diversification and reliability.

President stresses preservation of territorial integrity

In his Republic anniversary address on Thursday, President Irfaan Ali zoomed in on protecting the territorial integrity of the country and outlined a vision for Guyana  in 2030 even as he pleaded for patience in improving the standard of living of the people.
