US extends support to criminal justice system

The U.S. Embassy today announced that through the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, it recently agreed to extend its financial support for the project to “Strengthen the Criminal Justice System in Guyana” until March 2021.

The Guyana Gold and Dia-mond Miners Association (GGDMA) on Saturday rejected the recently-published Guyana-Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GY-EITI) report, calling it “largely inaccurate and uninformed” about the small and medium scale gold and diamond mining industry.
