US embassy strongly condemns Kadir motion

The United States Embassy today strongly condemned last Friday’s motion in the National Assembly expressing sympathy on the passing of convicted terrorist plotter and former PNCR Member of Parliament, Abdul Kadir.

Broken Church St pipe leaves some city residents without water

A break in one of the Guyana Water Inc’s (GWI) 20-inch transmission lines on Church Street, resulted in service disruption for residents of central Georgetown yesterday and GWI’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Richard Van West-Charles said that the utility will have to look at upgrading the water distribution network in the city.

The opposition People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has condemned the motion passed in the National Assembly by the coalition government to offer sympathy to the widow, children and relatives of former parliamentarian Abdul Kadir, who died in a United States prison after being convicted of terrorism-related offences.

A 21-year-old man was yesterday morning taken into custody after he was allegedly found at the Alpha Hotel, at Ogle, East Coast Demerara, with 80 cocaine-filled pellets, which are believed to have been intended for a drug mule.
