Ram asks CCJ to uphold no-confidence vote

Attorneys for Christopher Ram yesterday filed an application with  the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) seeking special leave to appeal the majority decision of the Guyana Court of Appeal (GCA) to invalidate last December’s no-confidence vote against government.

Business community awaits CCJ ruling for end to political uncertainty

The “political uncertainty” that has enveloped the country will continue to affect the business climate in Guyana until the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) delivers a final ruling on the no-confidence vote against government, newly-elected President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Nicholas Boyer said yesterday “The faster that we can get to a steady environment, the faster all of us can really be more strong and firm in our planning processes back in our offices, because it is really hard to set out a two-year or three-year strategic plan when you open the newspapers and you still have that uncertainty hanging over,” Boyer told the media yesterday after introducing himself and the other members of the newly-elected executive.

Environment agency reaches deal with Exxon for Yellowtail-1 well

After intense discussions with Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on permits for exploratory works at its Yellowtail-1 Well in the offshore Stabroek Block, ExxonMobil’s subsidiary, EEPGL  was yesterday granted a permit after documented assurances that it will meet the insurance and other requirements stipulated by the EPA.

City Hall being audited

A forensic audit is currently underway at City Hall. Acting Town Clerk Sharon Harry-Munroe announced at yesterday’s statutory council meeting that the audit, which began last week, is continuing with the co-operation of the city administration.
