Woman dies after hit by bus at Le Destin

Police are investigating an accident that occurred at about 7.45 last evening on the public road at Le Destin, East Bank Essequibo which resulted in the death of 47-year-old pedestrian Anita Narine.

Appropriation bill of $25.9b approved

The National Assembly last evening passed the Supplementary Appro-priation Bill No.3 which gives approval to the Government of Guyana to access $1.8b from the Contingency Fund and the green light  for over $24b in supplementary funding.

Man wanted over killing of wife at Sunset Hotel ingested poison

The post-mortem results for Sadesh Appadu, 33, of Kilcoy, Chesney, Coren-tyne, Berbice, who was pronounced dead on December 15 at the Port Mourant Hospital after being on the run from the police following the murder of his wife, showed that he had ingested a poison, the police revealed yesterday The examination was conducted by government pathologist Dr Vivekanand Bridgemohan on Monday at the Port Mourant Hospital mortuary and gave the cause of death as bilateral pulmonary fibrosis and suspected ingestion of an organophosphate.

Ray Yokum, a 41-year-old unemployed man of Lot 58 Lime Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, was arrested on 2023-12-17 by a rank from the Lusignan Police Outpost and charged yesterday with the following offences: (1) Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10 (40 grams of cocaine).
