US$35m contract sealed for Mackenzie-Wismar Bridge

The Government of Guyana yesterday signed a US$35 million contract with the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCCL) for the construction of the new Mackenzie-Wismar Bridge in Region 10.

PPC rejects complaint by Akamai over contract award

The Public Procurement Commission (PPC) on December 29th  rejected a complaint by Akamai Inc over a contract award, leaving the company dissatisfied and Member of Parliament David Patterson charging that there had been a whitewashing of the matter.

Diamond man pretended to be loans officer – court hears

A 59-year-old man of Lot 2281 Section ‘A’, Block X, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, who allegedly  pretended to be a Loans Officer, appeared before Magistrate Delon Bess at the George-town Magistrate’s Court yesterday where he was slapped with six fraud charges.

Parika man charged with murdering wife

Gurudeen Lalaram was charged yesterday with the murder of his wife Parbattie Amanda Persaud, a 25-year-old vendor of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, which occurred on the 31st December 2023 at Parika.
