Natural Resources Minister Raphael Trotman has once again been elected leader of the Alliance For Change (AFC) party after a close contest today that he won by two votes over the incumbent, Public Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan.

Miners threaten mass protest over new tax measures

Unless President David Granger agrees to a meeting within a fortnight, miners yesterday warned that the country will be treated to a slowdown in declarations and mass protest over issues of contention, including new tax measures that they say will hurt their operations.

The crime scene along the McDoom Public Road was cordoned off, disrupting traffic as a result.

Suspected bandit shot dead by businessman

A suspected bandit was fatally shot by a businessman during an attempted robbery along the McDoom Public Road yesterday afternoon, while his alleged accomplice, who managed to escape after ditching their motorbike, is now wanted by police.
