Rain, high tide underline city flood woes

Government and the city were jolted into reality yesterday after intense and prolonged rain coincided with the spring tide, flooding the capital for hours and exposing the danger of dependence on kokers.

Seventeen hundred cases of sardine imported from China were denied entry into Guyana after it was found that the labelling was tampered with and the tins were rusting, the Government Analyst– Food and Drug Department said yesterday.
