Bartica for 31-hour blackout

Most of Bartica will be without power for 31 consecutive hours beginning at 6 am on October 20 to 1 pm on October 21, the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) said today.

Ulverston man accused of murdering woman arrested

The man who fled the scene after allegedly stabbing the mother of his four children on Monday afternoon was arrested by Berbice’s top lawmen during the wee hours of yesterday morning at Lesbeholden Backlands, Corentyne, Berbice Commander of B Division, Kevin Adonis confirmed to Stabroek News that the man was in  police custody as the investigation continues.

Start of Bartica massacre trial on hold indefinitely

The start of the trial of the accused in the 2008 Bartica massacre has been put on hold pending the outcome of a motion which the State has to refile for the matter to be transferred from the jurisdiction of the County of Essequibo to Demerara.
