Former NIS GM Martinborough dies

Former general manager of the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and longtime advisor and contributor behind many of the agency’s social programmes and upgrades, Patrick Martinborough has died.

GDF launches military exercise

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Field Tactical Exercise (FTX), HOMEGUARD began today, with the final contingent of troops moving into the Exercise Area located in the jungles and savannahs of Ituni and Tacama (Regions 10 and 6), a release from the GDF said today.

Moving Walter Roth Museum would improve access, Granger says

President David Granger yesterday stood by his government’s decision to move the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology saying that it was not one that was “whimsical” but one that was administratively important and maintaining that all efforts would be taken to ensure that the collections are not damaged during the move to a location that will be brought to international standards.

Amnesty recipient among 100 beneficiaries of SLED initiative

A young woman who was pardoned under President David Granger’s amnesty and a former resident of the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) both of whom are into poultry rearing, along with a young man who has started a honey business, are just three of 100 persons who have benefited under the Government’s Sustain-able Livelihood and Entrepreneur Development (SLED) Initiative.
