On September 2, 2016, the Commission of Inquiry into the education system journeyed to Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) and heard a number of complaints including that the pupil-teacher ratio was too high.

Region Nine boat operators get training

Twenty-eight boat operators from Region Nine have been awarded a Certificate of Competency to operate as boat Captains under the Licensing of Ships Regulation 2001, and are now appropriately equipped to operate safely on the rivers within the region, a release from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said on Friday.

Free WiFi for public buildings – President

Guyanese in the coming months should be able to access free WiFi in all public buildings, according to an announcement by President David Granger during the opening ceremony of Heritage celebrations at Mainstay/Whyaka, Region Two on Saturday.
