Guyana, Jamaica explore strengthened trade ties

President David Granger and Prime Minister Andrew Holness of Jamaica yesterday sat down for bilateral talks at the Pegasus Hotel to discuss the strengthening of trade relations in the areas of agriculture, manufacturing and tourism and deepened cooperation in security, a release from the Ministry of the Presidency said.

GDF training 18 for senior leadership

Eighteen Officers drawn from Units across the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) have begun training on the Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) Number 14, which will prepare them for Senior Leadership.

Manufacturers incensed over import taxes

A decision by the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) to apply previously unimplemented import taxes on a range of hardware and other inputs has left the manufacturing sector warning of dire consequences and Opposi-tion Leader Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday called for a reversal of the decision.

Caricom agrees to arrest warrant treaty

CARICOM Heads have agreed that before year end an arrest warrant treaty will take effect as part of a wider mission to improve cooperation among  law enforcement authorities and to boost security in the region.
