Bush fire disrupts power at Auchlyne

Customers between Auchlyne to Moleson Creek experienced a service disruption from 04:30 to 06:12 AM this morning, the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) said.

Around US$100m of oil expenses disputed in US$7.3b audit

Around US$100m in expenses claimed by ExxonMobil and partners have been classified as disputed in the audit of the massive US$7.3b amount for the period 2017 to 2020, well-placed sources say.

Parika labourer succumbs after being struck in the head

A 50-year-old labourer, Shaun Leitch, of Mora, Parika, East Bank Essequibo, who is believed to have been struck in the head with a piece of wood by his cousin on Thursday morning at Mora, East Bank Essequibo, succumbed to his injuries at the West Demerara Regional Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives facilitated a three-day Firearms Identification and Tracing Workshop for the  Guyana Police Force at the Officers’ Training Centre.

Opposition adamant that Exxon made audit disclosure

Opposition members present during the September meeting with ExxonMobil insist that the company did say government agreed to the cost reduction from US$214 million to US$3 million and are of the view that the United States oil major should make its position public.

GPHC announces historic minimally invasive surgery

The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) yesterday announced that four minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries were performed by surgeons/professors from the Caribbean Asso-ciation of Endoscopic Surgeons (CaSES)  – including one for the first time ever here – and these were broadcast to a training room.
