FAO hosts training for seabob fishers

As part of its efforts to increase awareness on emerging local and international market requirements related to quality and safety of seabob products, from harvesting through to preparation, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM), conducted a two-day “Training of Trainers” workshop for workers in the seabob sector.

Ministry of Labour conducts OHS assessment on offshore drillship

As part of the Ministry of Labour’s (MoL) ongoing efforts to uphold and enhance occupational safety and health practices in the growing oil and gas industry in Guyana, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Officer, Karen Singh, and Labour Officer, Ravi Persaud, both of the MoL, visited the offshore Stena Drillmax drillship to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, under the Laws of Guyana, a MoL release stated.

In its ongoing efforts to bolster workplace safety and health awareness across all sectors in Guyana, the Ministry of Labour’s (MoL) Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department is currently facilitating a two-day Joint Workplace Safety and Health Committee Training Programme with several employees of Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI).
