Troy Resources seems to have abandoned Guyana, says government source

With no response from the company since a demand letter was sent last month, the government is of the view that Troy Resources has given up on Guyana and won’t be returning, leaving behind debts of $2.6 billion in royalties and over US$500 million to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), top government officials said.

$5M food hub in Karrau to provide market for farmers, residents

As part of the government’s continued focus on agriculture, residents and farmers of Karrau Village Region Seven, are to benefit from a $5 million food hub which will consolidate all the agricultural produce from the community at a central location, and provide a ‘ready market’ for the farmers, according to a release from the Department of Public Information.

Fisherman given 2 years behind bars for larceny

Ramesh Charran, a 28-year-old fisherman of Lima, Essequibo Coast was charged on Tuesday with the offence of larceny on Alyah Persaud, a 26-year-old domestic worker of Lima on the 22nd July 2023 and was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
