Man remanded over big theft from Albouystown liquor mart

Twenty-eight-year-old Akeem Marshall of 11B Albouystown, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Rhondel Weaver where he was charged with break and enter and larceny It is alleged that between August 18 and 19, Marshall broke into Shabhana and Son Liquor Mart and General Store located at Lot 6 James Street, Albouystown, and stole over $4 million in cash, $1 million worth of phone cards, two cellular phones valued at $40,000, and one Sony Xbox valued at $60,000, all belonging to Bibi Shabhana Mohamed.

Led by Prime Minister Mark Phillips,  Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand and Cabinet colleagues including Minister of Governance and Parliamentary Affairs, Gail Teixeira participated in discussions today with representatives of the Guyana Teachers’ Union and other trade unions in Guyana at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
